Okay I am having an argument with a friend about what takes more skill and would appreciate some feed back from people who have some experience in the matter. Techno or real music, meaning electric guitar, drums etc. I am positive real music is harder. Being a 6 year drummer my argument is it doesn't take a Dj 15 years to be an amazing Dj (5 years top for a DJ), your not creating your own music, your using pre-recorded beats. And finally, well i just don't like techno, it has no soul or emotion like some good old rock n roll has.

The real art, of course, is doing both the drinking and the cracker eating whilst fucking a drugged up pope in a slit you've made in his face.

The scar can later be used to give him even more credibility when applying for parts as intractable SS officers in war movies.

I only play the harmonica...badly most times, but Mr Goat is a guitarist with many years playing unber his belt. His answer to your question " Music..real music, anything else is just bashing a fuckin' keyboard". I hope this helps.

It's neither one. If you're comparing some shitty cover band versus top of the line techno, then techno's better.

The thing is techno's reliant on sound bites. In that sense, techno is limited in scope. It is easier starting off though, just for the reason that it only takes one person for techno versus three or four for a band.

Jeez...bet yer glad you asked Yeah..your name is shit though...

But on the music, it's kind of a weird question no? U2 would be what a lot of people would call 'real music'..but as anyone with half a brain knows, it's complete shit in terms of skill and artistry. There's some fucking amazing dance music out there, that shits on most of what's today considered 'real' or 'worthy' or whatever bullshite tag you want to attach..

But there's shit dance stuff too..c'mon man, it's all subjective! To say 'oh it takes skill to play a guitar and a monkey could bang a keyboard' is all very well, but not if you're shit on the guitar.

Chemical Brothers for one are fantastic, they are kings of collaboration and partly (or bit more even) responsible for evolution in dance music. Their music, yes music snobdicks, sends shivers down my spine.

For some reason, a DaftPunk song just came in to my head, and reminded me of a great YOutube vid which I'll now post in (an almost) completely un-related manner. Aplogies if this has been posted here/seen lots before as I think it was something of a t'internet phenomenon (I'm told) but remember I've been in another life.

"Electronica" This type of music is based on the use and manipulation of all sounds, not just those limited to musical instruments. The quality of music comes from the artistry and creativity involved in manipulating those sounds into new forms / ideas (mostly futuristic by nature).

Some people think this type of music is trash, but I disagree 100%.
