Apparently Mencia doesn't think it's stealing if the joke is over 20yrs old.

You are right GG. Carlos has not a clue. I did hear that Joke that 20 years actually and it was probably one of his best jokes ever. Cosby always talked about family in his jokes and about the Fat Albert and the Cosby kids his best cartoon ever for that time.

I was watching Comedy Central and Menstealia did "Wet back Mountain which is was from the Movie Broke Back Mountain and this was a Joe Rogan original Joke that I have heard and seen Joe do many times.

Since I am a fan of comedy central I naturally gave CM the benefit of the doubt and watched his show. At first I thought "he's kinda funny" and "looks like comedy central needed a quick fill in for Dave Chapelle". After the facts have been laid out I can say now that if you're going to cover comedians material that is fine, but if you are claiming it as your own then you deserve Joe Rogan up yor ass. Even if you like it.....Nice GG

I respect the decision Joe has made and it was in the best interest for him and his career in Comedy.

I can't see that clip so I won't comment on that but...

I know everyone wants to side with Joe on this, you know. He's cool. He's on SC. He's standing up for what he thinks is right, etc... whatever...

I'll tell you what I think in all honesty.

I don't think Carlos Mecia goes around looking for material to steal. I don't think anyone could have gotten to where he is without some flair of original talent and therefore he wouldn't need to. I think what he does is have a loose and easy basis for what's considered plagerism and I think were he to come up with something on his own and find out later somebody else did something similar he'd still use it. It's not exactly stealing, but it's not exactly any display of character either.

Here's the hard truth kids, whether it be by misunderstood and well-meaning- or a completely illegitame means- Carlos Mencia is funnier than Joe Rogan. Alot funnier. I mean Rogan's got his moments, and the guy makes me howl at times, no doubt- but were you to poll a group of random people and show them clips of both guys on stage- Mencia would take it by a landslide. What am I getting at? Am I saying Joe is somehow jealous? Not for a second. It's just, you know, there's alot of shades of gray in this and I'm tired of everyone hammering Mencia to the point of denying his dues; anyone doing that shoots their own credibility as far as I'm concerned.

So is Mencia some kind of sinister unabashing joke thief? I can't say. I doubt many could for sure. Is he funnier than Joe Rogan? Concensus-wise no doubt (don't bullshit me). Should that not count because some of his material is of a questionable origin? You decide. Would he be funnier sans all the jokes he allegedly stole? That'd have to be a whole lot of fucking material...

I'm not saying I personally think he's funnier. They're both funny. I won't choose. Hmmm though I wonder... Why is Carlos Mencia like fifty times more popular than Joe Rogan? The Illuminati? Human trafficking? Lizard people? To the conspiracy board!

I'm sure if you watch his show and go "I don't like this guy. Joe Rogan says he steals. I'm thoroughly convinced he's a no talent hack." Then yeah, you're right. There's is nothing so funny he (or anyone) could possibly say to change your mind.

This has been going on for quite some time between Joe and Carlos. Whether one thinks Joe is Funnier than Carlos is opinion and that is respectable. In the times I have seen Joe Rogan and Carlos at the Comedy Store in Hollywood I think Joe is alot funnier but that again is opinion. In comedy as Pauly Shore has mentioned "stealing someone else's material is just wrong".


The Decision the Comedy Store in Hollywood California made was a money looser for them, in a nutshell Joe advertised on MySpace, Radio, and even paid to for his advertisement to be put up on the Billboard there as well as he never took money from them in terms of payments, he always did the shows for free. Which is quite generous, also in La Jolla California they have the sister store there which is also The Lajolla Comedy Store and when Joe would come there the place would jack up the prices of the tickets for that wekeend with a complete sellout show.


So there are two sides to every story and we can beleive what we want and like whomever we want.
